CBN is one of the cannabinoids found in cannabis. CBN has been getting a lot of notoriety lately because it is one of the cannabinoids that has gained the interest of research and business – for multiple reasons.
Reason #1: Things you did not know or didn’t expect: CBN is really oxidized THCA. THCA converts into CBN as it is exposed to low-heat, UV-light, and air (aging).
Reason #2: Accessibility: Other than THCA and CBD, CBN is one of the more accessible cannabinoids, because it is easier to “create” than other cannabinoids.
Reason #3: Feasibility: The fact that CBN can be extracted from hemp allows it to avoid Schedule 1 controlled substance laws. This is substantial, for now, because it allows it to be sold nationwide and online. CBN is the new CBD for that reason. The federal legalization of cannabis will allow much more research and sale of all of the cannabinoids found in cannabis. The profitability of CBN is really why it is coming to the forefront in today’s cannabis market.
Reason #4: Usability: Studies have shown CBN to have a less psychoactive effect than THC, and it is more sedative. Research is beginning to show it is helpful in various ways – including a sleep aid, pain relief, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, and an appetite stimulant.
Worth noting: As cannabis ages, it loses monoterpenes – leaving the sesquiterpenes that also tend to be sedative. This adds o the sedative effect of CBN.
Knowing this now, watch for CBN to become more accessible/available and featured in products on the market. You can even make the decision as to when to buy or how to utilize your own CBN.
Smoker’s tip: if you ever wake up too early on a Saturday morning and want to go back to sleep, reach for your oldest cannabis and take a puff. The CBN will deliver a peaceful second sleep.
