West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval

If you only do one thing, make it this. The West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval closes Santa Monica Boulevard between Doheny Drive and La Cienega Boulevard on Saturday, October 31, from about 6 to 11 p.m. It’s free, and no ticket is required. It started in 1987 as a small neighborhood costume gathering and has grown into a mile-long street party through the heart of the Rainbow District, West Hollywood’s historic LGBTQ+ neighborhood.

Expect live entertainment on multiple stages, DJs, food vendors, photo stations and some of the most creative costumes you’ll see all year. The official event wraps up at 11 p.m., but the bars along Santa Monica Boulevard keep going well past that.

Getting there: Driving to West Hollywood on Halloween night is not recommended. Roads close, traffic backs up and parking is scarce. The free WeHo Halloween Ride runs along Santa Monica Boulevard between La Brea Avenue and Kings Road from 6 p.m. until 3 a.m. Metro buses also serve the area, though routes may be detoured.

Tips: Arrive early, wear comfortable shoes, and bring a layer. Late October nights in West Hollywood are mild, usually in the 60s, but you’ll be standing outside for hours. If you want a calmer start to the day, 1 Hotel West Hollywood hosts a Coffee & Chill: Halloween Edition that morning.

Planning a night in before the party? Order weed delivery in West Hollywood early, because Halloween weekend is busy.

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride

The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is the best-known haunted hayride in LA. It began in Calabasas in 2009, moved to Griffith Park, went drive-up in San Dimas in 2020, and returned to Griffith Park in 2021. This year it runs on select nights from September 18 through November 1 at the Old Zoo in Griffith Park (4730 Crystal Springs Drive).

Past seasons have combined a tractor ride, a haunted village, a corn maze, scare zones and food trucks, so plan on a couple of hours. The wagons have seats, but the walk-through attractions are standing experiences. Tickets run from about $35 for the hayride alone to around $130 for premium access, depending on the night and the package.

Parking: Free parking is available in the northwest corner of the Los Angeles Zoo lot, with a complimentary shuttle to the entrance trail. The final shuttle back leaves 30 minutes after closing.

Haunted Houses in Los Angeles

Los Angeles runs more major Halloween events than any other city in the country. Here are the ones worth the ticket:

  • Halloween Horror Nights (Universal Studios Hollywood): The largest ticketed scare event in the city, with ten haunted mazes, five scare zones and three shows. It runs 42 select nights through November 1, with gates opening at 7 p.m. Pricing is date-based, so weeknights usually cost less than Halloween weekend.

  • Queen Mary Dark Harbor (Long Beach): Haunted mazes, live entertainment and themed bars aboard the historic ship, running through November 1. It’s the closest big-name haunt to San Pedro.

  • Lucky 7 Haunted Tunnel (San Pedro): A haunted car wash tunnel with foam, neon lights and spooky music at 777 Miraflores Ave. It’s open Thursday through Saturday, 6–9 p.m., through October 31.

  • The Forgotten Circus (Hermosa Beach): Runs on Fridays in October in the South Bay.

  • Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort: Runs through October 31, including the after-hours Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney California Adventure, if you want a theme-park version of the holiday.

Pumpkins, Lights and Night Walks

If you’d rather stroll than scream, LA has plenty of options:

  • Carved at Descanso Gardens: A nighttime jack-o’-lantern and light installation, running from October 2 into early November. Halloween night adds trick-or-treating, crafts, a miniature pumpkin patch and a DJ dance party.

  • Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns: More than 10,000 carved pumpkins along a mile-long walking trail at South Coast Botanic Garden, open select nights through November 1.

  • Haunted Little Tokyo: On Saturday, October 24, Little Tokyo hosts ghost tours and a scavenger hunt in downtown LA.

Halloween Parties, Bar Pop-Ups and Costume Nights

LA’s costume-party calendar is huge. One local events guide is tracking 108 confirmed Halloween events across the city for 2026, and the biggest ones land on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31. A few worth knowing about:

  • The Haunting: A Halloween cocktail pop-up taking over bars across the city through October 31.

  • Black Lagoon: An immersive Halloween bar pop-up at Melrose Umbrella Co. (7465 Melrose Ave.), October 1 through November 1.

  • Candlelight Hollywood: Halloween Classics: A seated string-quartet concert of spooky film scores at the TCL Chinese Theatre, ideal if you want Halloween without a dance floor.

Family-Friendly Halloween Events

Cannabis shoppers include a lot of parents, and plenty of these events are great for kids:

  • Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s Hallowe’en Spooktacular (Highland Park): A spooky puppet cabaret for ages 2–8, running through November 8.

  • Marina Spooktacular (Marina del Rey): A free Halloween carnival on October 24–25 with activities for all ages and scare levels.

  • Halloween STEMebration (Battleship USS Iowa, San Pedro): A free event on October 31.

  • Carved at Descanso Gardens: Trick-or-treating and crafts alongside the pumpkin displays.

Keep cannabis products locked up and out of reach of children, especially when Halloween candy is around.

NoHo is minutes from Universal Studios Hollywood, so Halloween Horror Nights is your closest big scare. Metro’s B Line also runs between North Hollywood and the Universal City/Studio City station, which takes the stress out of parking. The NoHo Arts District has more than 20 live theaters, so check what’s on stage for the Halloween weekend. Stop by our North Hollywood dispensary before you head out.

Highland Park

Highland Park has its own tradition. The Bob Baker Marionette Theater’s Costume Ball is Saturday, October 24, from 8 p.m. to midnight, with tickets from $35 and a costume contest. The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride in Griffith Park is a short trip away, and Haunted Little Tokyo is also close on October 24. Visit our Highland Park dispensary.

Sylmar

For the north end of the Valley, your best bets are Halloween Horror Nights at Universal and Carved at Descanso Gardens, both a manageable trip away. The Griffith Park hayride is also within reach. Stock up first at our Sylmar dispensary.

Westwood

From the Westside, West Hollywood is the obvious answer for Halloween night, and the free WeHo Halloween Ride makes it easy. If you’re after something family-friendly earlier in the weekend, Marina Spooktacular in Marina del Rey is free on October 24–25. Our Westwood dispensary is a quick stop on the way.

San Pedro

San Pedro has a lot going on locally. There’s the Lucky 7 Haunted Tunnel, a free Halloween STEMebration aboard the Battleship USS Iowa on October 31, and Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns at South Coast Botanic Garden nearby. Queen Mary Dark Harbor in Long Beach is a short trip too. Swing by our San Pedro dispensary first.

Your Halloween Plan for the Final Stretch

  • This week: Buy tickets now for Halloween Horror Nights, the hayride or Dark Harbor. Prices are date-based and Halloween weekend sells out first.

  • Saturday, October 24: The busiest pre-Halloween day for local events: Haunted Little Tokyo, the Bob Baker Costume Ball and Marina Spooktacular all happen that day.

  • Friday, October 30: Many of the city’s biggest parties start. It’s also a good night for a haunted house when crowds are slightly smaller than Saturday.

  • Saturday, October 31: Carnaval runs 6 to 11 p.m. Sort out your ride home before you leave, and order delivery early if you’re staying in.

Staying In? We’ll Deliver

Not every great Halloween night involves a crowd. A horror marathon, a candy bowl and a few friends is a solid plan, and Rebud delivers across California. Pick your lineup from our lab-tested edibles, pre-rolls, flower and drinks, then enter your address at checkout to confirm delivery to you. You must be 21+ with a valid ID.

Horror nights call for the right flower, and spooky weed strains for Halloween like Ghost Train Haze and Black Widow fit the theme. Hosting a party? Halloween THC mocktails give guests a spooky drink without alcohol. Ordering ahead is easier when you can see Halloween weed deals in Los Angeles first.

A few tips for a good night in:

  • Order early. Halloween falls on a Saturday, so delivery windows fill up.

  • Pick products you already know. Halloween isn’t the night to experiment with a much stronger product.

  • Set out water and snacks, and give everyone a safe place to stay for the night.

  • Keep edibles clearly labeled and away from the candy bowl.

Never Drive High

Cannabis impairs your driving, and edibles can take longer to kick in than you expect. California’s DUI laws apply to cannabis, and Halloween night is one of the busiest nights of the year for police and rideshares. This is the one rule for Halloween night.

  • Don’t drive after using cannabis, even if you feel fine.

  • Plan your ride before you go: the free WeHo Halloween Ride, Metro, a rideshare, or a sober designated driver.

  • Consuming cannabis in public is illegal in California, so save it for home or another private place where it’s allowed.

  • Start low and go slow with edibles, and wait before taking more.

  • Avoid mixing cannabis with alcohol.

  • Keep cannabis away from kids and pets, especially around Halloween candy.
